From the series: Circles of Imagination.
Ornamental grass refers to Native Americans who attribute healing powers to a particular type of grass. The circle is also known as a dream catcher.
During the exhibition Oogst van de Verbeelding, 5 artists place circles made from natural materials like meandering air bubbles on a long wall. I made four of them, inspired by the garden, the materials, and the wholeness of harmony in nature and the universe.
The circle is a universally recognized symbol that represents wholeness, unity, eternity, and the infinite. The perfect symmetry is seen as the embodiment of balance and harmony. It also symbolically conveys cycles and rebirth due to its round character that has no beginning or end. From a spiritual perspective, the circle is seen as protective and sacred - often used in rituals and ceremonies to designate sacred spaces.
